How to Choose the Right CCTV System for Your Property

A CCTV system is one of the best investments you can make for the safety of your home, shop, office or factory. But with so many camera types, resolutions and recorders on the market, choosing the right setup can feel confusing. This guide explains the key decisions in plain language.

1. Start with your security goals

Walk around your property and list the areas that matter most: main gates, parking, entrances, cash counters, warehouses and blind spots. Decide whether you need to deter intruders, identify faces and number plates, or simply monitor activity. Identification needs higher resolution and closer camera placement.

2. Pick the right camera type

  • Dome cameras are discreet and vandal-resistant, ideal for indoor areas, shops and offices.
  • Bullet cameras are visible deterrents with longer range, best for boundary walls, gates and parking.
  • PTZ cameras can pan, tilt and zoom to cover large areas like factories and housing societies.

3. Choose resolution and night vision

For most homes and businesses, 4MP cameras offer a good balance of detail and storage. Choose 8MP (4K) for wide areas or where number-plate recognition is needed. Look for strong infrared range or colour night vision for areas without lighting.

4. IP or analog?

IP cameras with an NVR give sharper images, smart detection and easier expansion. Analog HD systems with a DVR are budget-friendly and work well for smaller sites. Our team will recommend the right option after a site survey.

5. Plan storage and remote viewing

Decide how many days of recording you need, typically 15 to 30 days, and size the hard drive accordingly. Make sure the system supports secure mobile viewing so you can check your property from anywhere.

6. Professional installation matters

Correct camera angles, neat cabling, power backup and proper network security make the difference between a system that works and one that fails when you need it. At The Future Technologies we provide a free site survey in Faisalabad, recommend the right equipment and handle installation and after-sales support.
